Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live In Paris Album Review

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have been around since 1998, championed by Noel Gallagher during his Oasis days having them supporting them on countless occasions. Why is that? Because not only do Black Rebel Motorcycle Club churn out some great Rock 'n' Roll tracks, but this band can deliver those bad boys effortlessly on the live stage. If you have not seen this band live, you have two options: catch them on their latest tour or purchase their latest album 'Live in Paris'.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live In Paris Album Review

'Live in Paris' is a DVD and CD filled with twenty three tracks of Rock 'n' Roll monsters, all packed into this. The trio just let their music do the talking, but be warned if you are not going to play this on its highest level then you won't get the full effect.

So the band kick off everything with 'Fire Walker' before moving swiftly onto 'Let The Day Begin'. Peter Hayes acknowledges the crowd and explains that, as it is a year on from the release of the album, they thought it would be good to play it from start to finish, which in itself is a treat; it's not often bands go through a whole album from start to finish. Most bands nowadays like to do this with a long anniversary on a release of an album, but Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are not in the line of 'Most Bands' and do things their way.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Launch Crowdfunding Effort For Drummer's Medical Fees

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are appealing to fans to donate money to help drummer Leah Shapiro cover the costs of her recent brain surgery.

The group cancelled a string of gigs earlier this month (Oct14) to allow Shapiro to undergo the operation after she was diagnosed with Chiari malformations, a condition which can put pressure on the brain and cause symptoms including headaches and depression.

She is now recovering from the surgery, and on Thursday (23Oct14), her bandmates launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe.com to contribute to her mounting medical fees.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Perform Anniversary Tribute To Singer's Late Father

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club The Call

Rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club paid a touching tribute to frontman Robert Levon Been's late father at the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday (03Aug13) by performing a cover of his band The Call's biggest hit.

Michael Been died after suffering a heart attack while working as a soundman for his son's band at Belgium's Pukkelpop festival in August, 2010, and to mark the near-anniversary, his son performed a rendition of The Call's Let The Day Begin, which became an anthem for Al Gore during his 2000 U.S. presidential campaign.

The three-piece was among many highlights at the 2013 Ssmf, which was headlined by Linkin Park, and also featured sets by AWOLNation, Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh, Wale, Warren G and Asher Roth.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Rock City Nottingham April 2013 Live Review 2013

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are one of those few bands that has been around for fifteen years now and have the welcoming toothache of trying to figure what songs to play and what songs to leave out. The good news for tonight is that the rumour mill around Rock City is in full flow and BRMC are going to play a 2 hour set!!

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live Review

The mood and atmosphere around Rock City is buoyant and the fact that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have not been in the UK for a good two years means everyone around is excited and the anticipation rises as time gets closer for the trio to come out and showcase their stuff, and it's an opportunity to see how they sound with the sticks in the hands of Leah Shapiro.

When you can pull out tracks such as 'Red Eyes' and 'Beat The Devils Tattoo' you can get away with sticking a couple of acoustic tracks in the middle which really shouldn't work but, for tonight, it kind of did; well, it did in the way that it gave a few people a chance to relax for a couple of minutes and get a beer. Let's be honest, you can't sustain two hours of pure high energy like these guys produce. Although the harsher person out there would've still said they would prefer that they just stick in the ten minutes of magic that is 'Half State'

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Specter At The Feast Album Review

As many people know, this is the first Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album to be released since bassist Robert Levon Been's Father, Michael Been, died of a heart attack in 2010.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Specter At The Feast Album Review

Been's father was the singer of 80s band The Call and what better way to pay a tribute than to record a cover of the band's most prominent hit, Let The Day Begin. It is an ideal way to pay tribute to a father and musician. Been senior was also often referred to as the unofficial fourth member of the band.

Not only is Specter At The Feast a triumph for its content, it is also a triumph that it was made after having suffered such a loss. The album manages to encompass all the sounds BRMC have demonstrated on previous albums since their 2001 self-titled debut. Specter At The Feast begins with the slow burning Fire Walker which sets the mood for the rest of the album.

Robert Levon Been Feared Brmc Split After Father's Death

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club frontman Robert Levon Been feared the band would split as they struggled to cope with the death of his musician father.

The rocker's dad, former The Call frontman Michael Been, passed away in 2010 after suffering a heart attack backstage at Pukkelpop festival in Belgium, where he had been acting as the band's sound engineer.

The trio regarded Michael as a mentor and Been feared they would be unable to continue working together because of the painful memories.

'I see for miles and miles and miles'- the beauty of this country is like medicine for androids. there's a strange neon demon, but I think it only comes out at certain hours, minutes in disguise, so many friends came tonight from all over today- we don't even know how to express our gratitude for your time and your money and energy and others who flew from all over the globe to be here with us for the final show- We love you all- thank you so much- and we wish you safe travels home. The 'R2 & C-3PO' of the rock world... always overlooked, and under appreciated... the closest they ever get to a distress-call from a princess might just be a pair of old panties that got lost along the way, but every droid knows, there's a million princesses out there but only a few good droids left that can keep this show on the road. The Pixies are one of the last true hopes for the Galaxy! You know Infinity/Beyond\ and all that jazz
