Advertising executives at two U.S. retailers have denied allegations they used songs from The Black Keys in their commercials without the band's permission.
Rockers Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney filed two separate lawsuits against do-it-yourself chain Home Depot and Pizza Hut's parent company Yum! Brands in June (12), claiming the firms had illegally used their tunes Lonely Boy and Gold on the Ceiling, respectively.
The defendants have since hit back at the duo and dismissed the accusations in court papers filed in Los Angeles last week (ends17Aug12).
Bosses from both Home Depot and Yum! Brands are each asking for The Black Keys to cover their legal fees if they successfully defend their cases.
Songwriter/producer Danger Mouse, who worked on both songs in question, is also named as a plaintiff.
