The new single from the Black Eyed Peas has knocked Lady GaGa off the number one spot in the US charts.

Boom Boom Pow, the first single by the hip-hop collective in three years, climbed 35 places to top the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Lady GaGa had last week become the first artist in almost a decade to top the charts with her first two singles.

Her debut single Just Dance took five months to reach the top of the US charts while Poker Face reached the summit after 15 weeks on release.

The latter slips one place to second while Flo Rida fell to third with Right Round.

Kid Cudi's Day N Nite, already a hit in the UK, climbed four places to enter the Billboard top ten while Britney Spears' controversial new single If You Seek Amy climbed four places to number 21.
