In a bid to promote his hit new album Keys To The World, Ashcroft will play his first US shows in six years as support on the upcoming Coldplay stadium tour.
Ashcroft is a longtime friend of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who recently named him "the best singer in the world", and joined the group for a rendition of The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony anthem at last summer's (05) Live 8 concert.

He says, "You're more likely to get all four Beatles on stage."
The Bittersweet Symphony hitmaker, who plans on retiring in the next decade, is looking forward to watching his music being performed by a number of veteran stars, including 9 TO 5 star Parton.
He says, "I've seen it. In my head, I've seen the show of covers. Dolly Parton will be singing SONNET.

Ashcroft joined the group on stage at Live 8 for a version of The Verve's anthem Bittersweet Symphony and will now join the FIX YOU hitmakers on their tour from 20 March (06).
Fiona Apple will support the group on all other dates on the tour, which begins in Vancouver, Canada on 25 January (06).
