Rock legend Billy Joel has given New York Rangers ice hockey fans a new anthem to sing in the Stanley Cup finals after allowing his 1982 hit Allentown to be reworked as Rangertown.

The New York native has given his bandmember Mike DelGuidice his blessing to cover the classic tune, which is expected to debut at Madison Square Garden on Monday night (09Jun14), when the Rangers will do battle with the Los Angeles Kings in Game 3 of the championship series, reports the New York Post.

The Kings are currently leading the series 2-0 after winning their first two home games.

Joel has been performing a monthly residency at the Garden, the home of the New York Rangers, since January (14).
