Billy Crystal returned to the OSCARS last night and received a standing ovation as he took to the stage, reports USA Today.
The American actor and star of 'When Harry Met Sally' and 'City Slickers' has hosted the Academy Awards eight times in total, the last coming in 1994. Crystal told the star-studded audience, "Some things never change. The producers asked me to say we're running a little long...so here are the nominees for best picture..." As the laughter eventually died down, Crystal delivered a homage to the legendary comedian Bob Hope, who hosted the OSCARS 18 times. Crystal said, "I hosted it eight and was pooped after two". Anne Hathaway and James Franco took up hosting duties at last night's awards, with the latter coming in for considerable criticism for his performance. One television executive told Popeater.com, "This was a disaster. Before the show began something was wrong with James. His live interview on ABC backstage should have been a warning sign. He was awkward and looked as if he knew what a terrible evening was ahead for all of us".British flick 'The Kings Speech' dominated the ceremony, winning in the categories of 'Best Picture', 'Best Original Screenplay', 'Best Actor' for Colin Firth and 'Best Director' for TOM HOOPER.
