Big-hearted Billy Bob Thornton and country star Tim Mcgraw have teamed up to help injured American football stars after discovering the unknown heroes while preparing for their new sports movie.

The couple learned about college star DAVID EDWARDS, who broke his neck in a football game accident, and other tragic college football stars while rehearsing for new movie Friday Night Lights.

The country pair teamed up for a recent low-key charity concert in Austin, Texas for GRIDIRON HEROES, a charity set up to raise funds for disabled football stars.

Billy Bob, who plays a tough college coach in the film, admits meeting the college kids struggling to come to terms with disability brought tears to his eyes.

He says, "You see these kids and they're way more courageous than I'll ever be."
