Being over 40 and a female journalist in the city means you don't necessarily get the good projects to work on. Kim Barker is just one of those women and she's in need of a new dose of... something. Her relationship is static and her life hasn't exactly become the success story she hoped it would.
When her news organisation is looking for some new field reporters, Kim decides that it might be the chance she's looking for. Sure, the new job might be based in Kabul, but it's got to be better than what she's got. Arriving in the foreign land, she's sent to 'the fun house', a name given to the building where all the foreign journalists live. Learning how to report from two countries and moving back and forth with armed escorts soon becomes the norm for Kim and she develops a an affection for a country most would be wanting to distance themselves from.
As well as reporting - often menial - stories, Kim quickly becomes absorbed in the local way life as well as finding a few new friends also living in the fun house. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is based on Kim Barker's memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Then there's the business dealings to sort out, all the stuff I don't understand. But one way or another, the sequel will happen and the idea is to shoot it next year. We know we'll never beat the first film, but we'll get as close as we can."
Now studio bosses at Miramax and Broad Green Pictures have finally given the green light for a storyline, with the film due to move into production in Montreal, Canada in January (16). Bad Santa 2 is expected to hit cinemas in time for next year's (16) festive season.

Sandra Bullock wanted a director that could bring out the best in her.
Sandra Bullock leads the cast for true story drama 'Our Brand Is Crisis', and while she's well known for some impressive acting stints throughout her career, she's crediting director David Gordon Green for her work in this movie; a filmmaker who came on board after a long struggle to find the perfect director.
Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton star as arch-rivals in 'Our Brand Is Crisis'
Bullock stars as a political campaign expert named Jane with a questionable past, who nearly loses sight of her own morals in a bid to beat her rival Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton) in the presidential victory race and clear her less then clean record. It's not just a straightforward drama though; as can be expected from Bullock, there's plenty of humour there and a whole lot of heart, creating something that she describes as 'emotionally complex' and thus a daunting task for any director.
Director Matthew Cullen Has Filed A $1 Million (£625,000) Lawsuit Against The Producers Behind His New Movie London Fields Amid Allegations They Tampered With His Work Without His Permission.
Cullen lodged papers at Los Angeles Superior Court late on Tuesday (15Sep15), just three days before the Amber Heard and Billy Bob Thornton crime thriller is due to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday (18Sep15).
In the suit, the filmmaker claims Chris Hanley and Jorden Gertner engaged in "fraudulent efforts" to rework the movie without his knowledge, stating, "None of the revisionary elements that Defendants have interjected into the film appear anywhere in the script. Nor do they have any place in the film, at least not the one that Plaintiffs were asked to direct. Among other things, these elements include incendiary imagery evoking 9/11 jumpers edited against pornography, as well as juxtaposing the holiest city in Islam against mind-control. No cast or crew member signed up for this, nor did Plaintiffs."
Cullen also alleges the producers failed to pay him the $300,000 (£187,500) fee he was promised for his work.
