Murray joins fellow original cast-member Dan Akryod will also feature in the film.
Original Ghostbuster Bill Murray has been confirmed as making an appearance in Paul Feig’s upcoming all female reboot of the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 64 year old actor played Dr. Peter Venkman in the original 1984 film, as well as reprising the role in 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II.
Bill Murray will be making an appearance in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters.
Feig’s reboot features an all female lead cast of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the group of ghost hunters, with Chris Hemsworth also set for a supporting role. It is expected to hit theatres on July 22, 2016.

Murray’s involvement in the reboot might come as a surprise to some, as the actor had previously been vocal about his reluctance to star in a third Ghostbusters movie. Speaking to David Letterman earlier this year, Murray that his hesitancy over revisiting the franchise was due to Ghostbusters II not having been as well-received as the first movie.
But Murray wont be the only original Ghostbuster appearing in the reboot. Dan Akryod has already filmed his cameo, which reportedly sees him as a cab driver who has an altercation with Kristen Wiig’s character Erin Gilbert.

According to a report by IndieRevolver last month Akryod is even said to have thrown out the iconic line, "I ain't afraid of no ghosts!" during the scene, to which Wiig’s character yells back, "That's a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!
