Officials at New York's Fordham University and the Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin rescinded his honours last week (ends27Sep15) in response to his ongoing sexual assault scandal.

Heads of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island followed suit on Monday (28Sep15), stripping the comedian of the degree they awarded him in 1985.

University president Christina Paxson informed students in a letter, writing, "It has become clear, by his own admission in legal depositions that became public this summer, that Mr. Cosby has engaged in conduct with women that is contrary to the values of Brown and the qualities for which he was honoured by the University in 1985... The conduct that Mr. Cosby has acknowledged is wholly inconsistent with the behavior we expect of any individual associated with Brown."

In July (15), Cosby's deposition from a 2005 sexual attack lawsuit was made public. In the testimony, the 78 year old confessed to obtaining sedatives called Quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with.
