Pop babes Beyonce Knowles, Britney Spears and Pink infuriated a London theatre audience last night (26JAN04), after keeping them waiting for nearly an hour to see the Queen musical.

Over 2,000 avid theatre-goers arrived at the West End's DOMINION THEATRE to see an 8.30pm performance of popular show WE WILL ROCK YOU - but were unaware the three singers were making a surprise appearance on stage to promote the new PEPSI campaign.

But the trio failed to appear on time - and after keeping the anticipative crowd waiting in their seats for over 45 minutes without giving them an explanation for the excessive delay, a Pepsi employee walked on stage to introduce the new TV advertisment.

The angry audience shouted and booed during the epic three minute promo for the soft drinks giant, starring Britney, Beyonce, Pink as gladiators under a Roman emperor, played by pop hunk Enrique Iglesias.

Furious shouts of "Hurry up" echoed around the theatre and several audience members simply stormed out - with the American superstars' surprise appearance only eliciting a handful of claps from fans among the crowds.

Despite the long build-up, the trio of beauties walked on stage with Queen rockers Roger Taylor and Brian May and proceeded to smile in silence at the angry crowd.

Finally the crowd's wishes were fulfilled when the curtain rose, one hour after the scheduled start.

One angry audience member moaned, "I came here to see the musical, not a pop concert... not that they sang anyway! I couldn't believe the delay. I had to leave at the interval because I couldn't afford to stay past midnight and miss my train just to see the show finale. I'm thinking of demanding my money back - or at least getting a complimentary ticket."
