Veteran actress Betty White has teamed up with airline bosses Down Under to shoot a hilarious in-flight safety film aimed at older passengers.

The former Golden Girls star attended the fictional Second Wind Retirement Resort to shoot a series of clips for the Air New Zealand video, which is titled Safety Old School Style.

She is shown giving tips on the location of emergency exits on jets, inflating a life-jacket, and adopting the brace position, and also cheekily reminding passengers that prohibited onboard activities include smoking and "other hanky panky that creates a bit of heat".

White's former The Mary Tyler Moore Show co-star Gavin MACLeod has a cameo in the film, which ends with White and MACLeod enjoying a dance at the resort's disco.

The actress says, "Air New Zealand has a global reputation for creating unique in-flight safety videos. When the opportunity came up to be involved in this project, I couldn't say no. We had a lot of fun on set and I think we've shown that it doesn't matter what age you are, it's important to live life to the full."

Previous wacky Air New Zealand films include a Hobbit-themed clip and a survival-style video featuring British adventurer Bear Grylls.
