The popular Isle of Wight festival is landing in Toronto this summer
New Year, New Festival Season and in 2015 one of the best ones is going global - Bestival is going to Toronto. Bestival UK has been a firm favourite in the summer calendar for 12 years having been set up and run by BBC Radio DJ Rob da Bank and his wife Josie.

Foals will headline Bestival on Saturday night
Festival curator and DJ Rob da Bank made the announcement saying, "Ahoy there shipmates and welcome to my desert island! Yes folks, HMS Bestival has set sail once more and we have finally landed back on the Isle of Wight for our 11th instalment - a Desert Island Disco. Foals were voted best live act of last year and I'm delighted they'll be headlining the Saturday night – there’s no better indie guitar band in the UK right now.
OutKast will headline Bestival 2014.
The reunited hip-hop outfit Outkast are the first act to be announced for the Bestival 2014 line-up. The event takes place at the Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from September 4th-7th. Organiser Rob da Bank announced the high profile booking, whilst also confirming that this year's theme would be Desert Island Disco.

By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I'm pretty darn excited to announce that OutKast are headlining Bestival this year!" he said in a statement, "We've fought hard to get the recently reunited legendary hip-hop duo onto the ferry... and it's no ordinary ferry this year as Bestival goes Desert Island Disco for 2014. Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day. It truly is gonna be the Bestival yet!"

The legendary singer is relentless.
Elton John is possibly the busiest person in music right now. He’s recorded a brand new album, and made his first festival appearance in decades at the only festival worthy of his penchant for fancy dress: Bestival. And in-between all of that, he adopted a second child. Want more? Well he nearly died, so there’s that.
Elton John shouting his head off at Bestival.
"I did nine shows, 24 flights and played the White Tie and Tiara Ball [the annual fundraiser for his Elton John Aids Foundation] with Coldplay with a burst appendix. I was so lucky, because usually if it bursts, it causes peritonitis. If that happens, you have to be in hospital within an hour, otherwise you're brown bread,” explained Elton to The Guardian.

Q: What do you get if you leave 55,000 people on the Isle Of Wight for four days in September?
A: Possibly the messiest weekend of excess on the UK's summer festival calendar.
Having become the official closing party to the summer's festivities that started back in May at Brighton's Great Escape, Rob De Bank's Bestival shindig has developed a life of its own in recent years. Growing to over five times the size of its inaugural 2004 event, Bestival can boast at being one of the few music festivals where the line-up is often secondary in the eyes of many revellers. Described as a "boutique Glastonbury" by some, it's become one of the most prominent names on the calendar, which is testament to its creator and his team of organisers in building and maintaining such a prestigious gathering.

Bestival's 'Hello Sailor' themed year was no dry dock.
Bestival drew to a close last night (8th Sep) as thousands of revellers - dressed in their finest ocean-themed gear - celebrated the ten year anniversary of the annual fancy dress and performing arts event. Mermaids, Vikings, Tritons, Neptunes, and plenty of Spongebob Squarepants watched rapper-turned-reggae-singer Snoop Lion (formerly Dogg) headline the main stage on Saturday night.
Snoop: Lion Or Dogg, The Man Has Perfected His Stoner "Act."
As all eyes turned to the red, green and yellow backdrop, everyone wondered if and how the new Snoop - the one who claims to be an incarnation of Bob Marley - would do things differently to the shizzle and bizzle of the 'Smoke Weed Everyday' days. Turns out, things had barely changed. Before the big man himself had emerged onstage his 'hype' crew had already asked the crowd which coast their loyalties lay with and if anyone had smoked weed that day. Lion then sauntered on stage looking as laid back as ever and begins to perform 'Here Comes The King' whilst suspiciously subdued.
By and large, the third day of Bestival was a rousing success.
Snoop Dogg and Franz Ferdinand dominated Saturday at Bestival on the Isle of Wight. Festival goers enjoyed a rare bit of sunshine yesterday (September 7) and Snoop Dogg performed a set, featuring some of his biggest hits to a backdrop of his own face (because of course he did.)
Snoop's new persona isn't exactly a hit with fans.
