American funnyman Bernie Mac is enjoying his rising fame intensely - but he still insists on doing his own laundry.

The OCEAN'S ELEVEN star, who appears alongside Chris Rock as his brother and running mate in the new presidential campaign comedy Head Of State, refuses to follow in the footsteps of so many before him and allow his success to go to his head.

Mac, 45, says, "When I get home, I have to unpack, iron my clothes and cook myself dinner.

"People tell me, 'Bernie, you're a movie star, act like one!' But I'm domesticated. I'm real. I don't have any handlers."

The comic also avoids the Hollywood social scene.

He adds, "I lease in LA. My family is in Chicago. Me peace of mind is there too. LA is for business, and I'm not soliciting friends at age 45."
