Benedict Cumberbatch has told reporters in the US in no uncertain terms that he and co-star Martin Freeman are definitely up for filming a new season of hit BBC detective drama Sherlock. Upon its third season airing, the show has just enjoyed its best ratings to date in the US and last weekend's series finale in the UK was branded "perfect" by critics.

If All Goes To Plan, There'll Definitely Be More 'Sherlock' Action Coming Our Way.

In the face of fans hungry for more of the electric chemistry between Cumberbatch's Sherlock and Freeman's Watson, the stars are excited to reveal that there'll probably be more 221B Baker Street drama headed our way. Though there has been no official announcement yet regarding a new series, executive producer Steven Moffat told the audience at the Television Critics Association press tour that "['Sherlock'] will continue until Benedict gets too famous."

When asked about his rising star power as a result of his detective role, Cumberbatch answered "I think a lot of it comes with who [Sherlock Holmes] is. He's a very iconic figure." He also gave his views on fame and the growing numbers of avid fans who swarm him wherever he goes. "It's kind of extraordinary and a little bit unnerving, and I do feel that has to be acknowledged," Benedict said.

What about a 'Sherlock' movie?

"I know that feeds the thing itself but I'm a human being; as much as I'm capable of, I'm going to acknowledge the gratitude, the fact that they are so supportive, loyal and by and large intelligent and some of them normal and committed to something I really love doing and a character I love playing. It means a hell of a lot to me," the 37 year-old confessed, via THR.

The English actor crucially revealed that he doesn't see an end point for his somewhat limited, albeit popular TV role. "I'm fine with it. I'm going to keep going with it," Cumberbatch said explaining that "it's a schedule-providing thing...I love it. I find it very invigorating."

So does that mean there'll definitely definitely be a fourth season? "I've commissioned it," Benedict teased.
