SIR Ben Kingsley abandoned a music career to become an actor - because he was terrified of becoming a drug-addled rocker.

The Oscar-winning Gandhi legend was singing in British theatres in the 1960s when Beatles manager BRIAN EPSTEIN spotted him and wanted to make him a star.

But Kingsley turned down the opportunity because he didn't trust himself living the rock'n'roll lifestyle.

The 60-year-old says, "I would have probably fallen into that very dangerous addictive world, and I don't think that discipline would have been strong enough for me."
