Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley is to receive one of the leading honours at the upcoming Asian Awards.

The Gandhi star, who was born Krishna Pandit Bhanji to a Gujarati father and British mother, will be presented with the Fellowship Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cinema.

Asian Awards founder Paul Sagoo says, "Ben Kingsley is without a doubt one of the most accomplished actors of Asian descent and we are incredibly proud and excited to celebrate the remarkable career of such an outstanding individual."

The awards ceremony will take place in London on 16 April (13). Late martial arts movie legend Bruce Lee will be honoured with the Founders Award.
