Remember that unfortunate 2003 Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck? According to a report by Deadline, Marvel is taking a second shot at transferring the character to the screen, alongside several others - Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. The exciting news is that Marvel are teaming up with none other than online video giant Netflix to produce four series and a miniseries featuring the characters from Hell’s Kitchen, New York.

With productions like House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, Arrested Development and plenty of others, Netflix has proven that it has both the resources and expertise to rival and maybe even beat even the major networks in terms of quality, this will be the company’s biggest and most long-term commitment to date. Netflix has committed to at least four, 13-episode series over “multiple years,” beginning in 2015, culminating with a miniseries, The Defenders, that “reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.” Clearly, teams of superheroes are all the rage these days.

The deal involves 60 episodes in total, produced by Marvel in collaboration with ABC Studios (much like ABC’s Agents of SHIELD) and is a continuation of the deal that will give Netflix exclusive rights to Disney films in the premium TV window beginning in 2016.

Marvel Entertainment President Alan Fine explained that the large-scale project was "unparalleled in its scope and size and [reinforcing Marvel's] commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all storytelling platforms."
