In anticipation, here’s everything you need to know about Gone Girl.
Gone Girl comes to cinemas this October
Ben Affleck stars as Nick Dunne, a man who arrives home on his fifth wedding anniversary to discover his wife Amy is missing. Did Nick have something to do with his wife’s disappearance? The audience are left to decide for themselves, as Nick becomes the subject of intense media suspicion after details of his marriage are revealed. As clues start to appear, along with Amy’s creepy ex boyfriend, (played by Neil Patrick Harris) the question remains, could this handsome man who seemingly had a perfect life really be capable of the unthinkable?
Fresh of the success of ‘House of Cards’, The Social Network’s David Fincher returns to the big screen to direct. Gillian Flynn, who penned the Gone Girl novel, has also written the film’s screenplay, though she’s promised it will differ slightly from her original work. Frequent Fincher collaborator Cean Chaffin is producing, along with Lesley Dixon and Reese Witherspoon. Providing the soundtrack will be Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose, together they won the the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2010 for The Social Network.
Former Bond Girl Rosamund Pike will star as Affleck’s wife Amy, who will be mostly seen in flashbacks. Neil Patrick Harris co-stars like you’ve never seen him before as Amy’s creepy former boyfriend, while Tyler Perry has a surprising turn as Affleck’s lawyer. ‘Happy Endings’ Casey Elliot appears and the Dunne’s very pregnant neighbour, while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s Missi Pyle plays a Nancy Grace-like reporter.
