Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to reunite to star in a gangster movie.

The Hollywood actors will appear in their first film together since 1997 motion picture 'Good Will Hunting' - which they co-wrote and won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay - with Matt set to play notorious criminal Whitey Bulger in a biopic about the Boston gangster.

He told US GQ magazine: "We're doing a Whitey Bulger movie. There are a couple of competing movies and I don't think it's been announced yet that we're doing it.

"But the sooner it's announced the better, just because everyone else will back off, hopefully. I'm really excited about it."

The pair are set to star alongside Matt's brother Casey Affleck, while 'Boardwalk Empire' creator Terrence Winter is writing The Script.

Bulger was the leader of South Boston's Winter Hill Gang and used to be on the FBI's top ten Most Wanted list.
