Barry Gibb, the sole surviving member of the Gibb brotherhood that made up The Bee Gees, is to embark on string of solo concerts in honour of his fallen brothers in the near future. Speaking to The Sun, the Isle of Man-born, Manchester and Australia-raised singer announced his intentions to return to UK soil after taking his Barry’s Mythology Tour up and down Australia earlier this year, having to add a string of extra dates to the tour to match the demand - something that is expected to be repeated again in the UK.

The Gibb family found fame as the Bee Gee's in the 1960's, achieving world-wide acclaim and success for their take on the emerging disco genre in the mid-1970's. The family had their first major loss when youngest brother Andy, who was not a member of the Bee Gees but did achieve notable success as a solo artist, passed away aged a mere 30-years-old in 1988 after years of drink and drug abuse. Maurice then passed away due to a cardiac arrest in 2003 aged only 53, followed by his twin brother Robin, 62, who was claimed by cancer last May.

Barry Gibb To Perform Posthumously With Brother Robin Nationwide

Bee Gees Robin Gibb

It’s all Bee Gees at the moment. Barry Gibb will ‘duet’ with his late brother Robin on a nationwide tour set in motion to honour the legacy of the band, while a special set of stamps will launch on The Isle of Man in the memory of Robin. Barry is the last surviving member of the Bee Gees.

Maurice Gibb died at 53 in 2003 after complications from a twisted intestine, while Robin lost his battle with cancer aged 62 last May. A source close to Barry, 66, called the shows an “emotional salute” and added: “The duet is touching. Barry will make his brothers the heart of the shows. It’s emotional to hear the voices in unison.” He will start an acoustic version of hit I Started A Joke before recordings of Robin Gibb are played on a screen, and will be performing three dates in the UK in September and October, including one show at the O2 Arena.
