'Ugly Betty'star Becki Newton has given birth to her first child.

The 32-year-old star - who played ditzy secretary Amanda Tanen in the TV comedy series about the behind-the-scenes of a fashion magazine - and husband Chris Diamantopoulos welcomed a baby boy into the world in Early November, her publicist has confirmed.

The name and the exact date of birth have yet to be revealed.

Becki and Chris married in 2005, having met on a New York subway station after he "Busted" her for checking him out.

She said: "We walked by each other and I started laughing because he was cute and he busted me checking him out. Then I felt a little tap on my shoulder and he said, 'Excuse me, I think I might be lost. This area's very confusing, maybe we should just figure this out together.'"

In April, Becki confessed she was not in a rush to start a family with Chris.

She said: "I think someday, when the time is right, it'll happen."

Earlier this year Becki's new TV show 'Love Bites', her first since the cancelling of 'Ugly Betty', had to be rescheduled because of her pregnancy.

Vernon Sanders, executive vice president of current programming at NBC said: "She plays a virgin, so we have to make adjustments to that."
