The Beatles' chauffeur ALF BICKNELL has died at his home in Oxford, England, at the age of 75.
The driver, who was the inspiration behind the FAB FOUR's DRIVE MY CAR hit, started working for the Beatles in 1964 during the filming of Help!.
The group's former promoter, SAM LEACH, remembers, "Alf was with them for four years, including when they met ELVIS in 1965. "Alf often recalled with pride how Elvis called him `Sir' during the meeting."
Bicknell stayed with the Beatles until they decided to stop touring in 1966.15/03/2004 21:11
