The surviving members of rap group The Beastie Boys have inked a deal to release a memoir.
Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz, also known as Mike D and Ad-Rock, will document their rise to fame with late bandmate Adam 'MCA' Yauch in the as-yet-untitled book, which has been described as a "multidimensional experience" with a "strong visual component".
Spiegel & Grau publisher Julie Grau tells The New York Times, "(The Beastie Boys are) interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience. There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up."
The Beastie Boys' agent Luke Janklow adds, "The first words out of Mike's mouth were, 'I don't want to do a straight memoir.'"
The book, to be edited by hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins, is scheduled to hit shelves in 2015.
