The Beastie Boys have stormed back to the top of the American charts after a six year absence.

The trio's acclaimed new album, TO THE 5 BOROUGHS, failed to make the chart dent their last album HELLO NASTY did in 1998, but the new CD still sold 360,000 copies to shoot straight in at the top.

Hello Nasty also debuted at number one with opening week sales of 682,000 copies. That album went on to sell 3.8 million copies.

Usher's smash-hit album CONFESSIONS had another strong week on the Billboard chart - another 169,000 copies were sold in the album's 11th week to keep it at number two.

Last week's (16JUN04) number one debut, Velvet Revolver's CONTRABAND, dropped to number three.
