Poor Bear Grylls. It doesn't feel so long ago that the general public were in awe of him, watching him scurry around some of the harsher climates this world has offer, marvelling as he managed to sustain himself on various animal faeces - and that was before he'd left the hotel he used to return to every night in between shoots (allegedly) - and generally doing for survival and adventure programming what Heston Blumenthal did for cookery shows; namely doing all the silly things on them that others wouldn't dare to.
His success earned him many plaudits, and a slot on the Discovery Channel, but now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that his tenure with the channel is coming to a close, with an apparent breakdown in contractual negotiations seeing the end of his 'Man Vs. Wild' show. "Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him," a spokesperson for Discovery said, offering no further comment.
