Pop duo Beach House have attempted to ease fans' anger with car manufacturer Volkswagen amid accusations a new commercial for the company mimics their song Take Care.
Angry devotees of the U.S. band noted similarities between the track and the music used in Volkswagen's latest TV advert for its Polo vehicle.
But band members Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally have called for calm, insisting an advertising agency responsible for licensing the music found a similar tune after the group refused to allow their song to be used.
A statement on their Facebook.com page reads, "The ad agency actively tried to license 'Take Care' from us for weeks, to which we politely declined... People's comments/anger should not be directed towards VW or us. It was the ad agency that made these moves...
"I hope this also clarifies to fans and non-fans just how 'Take Care' and the VW ad song are related. We will release a proper statement weeks from now when we don't have more interesting things to do/talk about."
