Former Baywatch hunk David Hasselhoff has signed on to front a new documentary about the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Hasselhoff vs. the Berlin Wall will commemorate the 25th anniversary of his performance at the site as the wall splitting the German city was ripped down in 1989.

The National Geographic channel film will also study Hasselhoff's success in Germany, where he became a huge music star in the 1980s.

Announcing the new documentary on Thursday (05Jun14), the actor said, "Looking for freedom behind the Berlin Wall, I discovered so much more. I witnessed firsthand the horror and the pain the East Germans experienced throughout their unwavering fight for freedom. They are an inspiration to us all, and I am proud beyond words to present their saga to the world in partnership with National Geographic Channel."

Hasselhoff vs. the Berlin Wall will premiere in the U.S. on National Geographic later this year (14), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
