Basement Jaxx aren't desperate to have lots of big name guest stars on their new album, which the duo have started working on.
Basement Jaxx haven't lined up any guest stars for their new album.
The duo have had worked with numerous singers, including Dizzee Rascal, Kele Le Roc, Siouxsie Sioux and Yoko Ono, on their tracks, but while they have started their seventh album, they have no guests in mind to provide vocals yet.
Simon Ratcliffe exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We're not hell bent on getting a whole list of guests, it's not important at all.
"We've worked with some wicked people and got to meet some people like Meshell Ndegeocello, who was on 'Kish Kash' and that's all great but it's the character of the voice really, and it's exciting when you find somebody who isn't particularly known but has a certain energy to their voice that you can use."
The group - completed by Felix Buxton - have never found it hard to get people to agree to collaborate with them, although one star who has always remained difficult to track down has been Grace Jones.
Simon added: "One person who we did try and get was Grace Jones. For a while we tried to get her and I think she's just being elusive really, and hard to pin down.
"We thought she'd be good, and she still would be good, but we're not that fussed, we don't set our minds on a particular voice.
"It's an advantage sometimes, not being able to get everything you want and not knowing exactly what you're doing."
Basement Jaxx are part of the line up who will be performing at the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project at Alexandra Palace on 12th November 2011. To find out more www.facebook.com/SmirnoffGB
