Barry Gibb admitted he missed his late Bee Gee brothers before he accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards today (28.06.13).
The 66-year-old musician - who is the last surviving member of the legendary pop group - admitted the passing of his younger sibling Robin last year had hit hard but he praised his wife Linda for making him get over his grief.
Speaking at the event, which was held at the Hilton Park Lane hotel in London, Barry - who lost Robin's twin Maurice, the third member of the group, in 2003 - told BANG Showbiz: ''I have to credit my wife for getting me back on the stage after my brothers passed away. She said stop anguishing over everything. The music is in you, get it out and stop worrying.''
Barry has headed out on tour this year and after six shows in Australia he has four more dates in the UK and Ireland planned for September.
And despite his fear about taking to the stage solo for the first time, he described the experience as ''magnificent''.
He added: ''The audience was with me. They performed too, it was wonderful to have them with me ... And my brothers are with me. They're with me and they're here all the time. The last six months have been better because I've been performing. And using music as therapy, re-living the golden moments.
''I've been singing with Sammy [Samantha], Maurice's daughter and my eldest son, Steve, so it's really still all in the family. And I love that.''
Stars in attendance included Coldplay, Myleene Klass, Kimberly Wyatt, Conor Maynard and Jessie Ware.
Music charity Nordoff Robbins raises money to provide music therapy across the UK, including schools, day centres and hospitals, to help children and adults with a variety of difficulties.
