Director Anne Fletcher had to settle on shooting new comedy The Guilt Trip in and around California after superstar Barbra Streisand refused to embark on a real cross-country road trip for the film.

The veteran entertainer recently admitted she was hesitant to sign up for the leading role of Joyce Brewster after so many years away from the big screen, but she had no regrets about her decision once she started working with her on-screen son, funnyman Seth Rogen.

Fletcher wanted to film The Guilt Trip, about an inventor who hits the road with his mum to sell his latest product, by having her leading stars head out on a real road trip across America, but Streisand promptly put an end to that idea - because she didn't want to travel more than 45 minutes away from her three Malibu mansions.

She tells Time magazine, "I love my home."
