The hype hots up ahead of E3
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was recently delayed, causing many fans of the franchise to despair. But there’s been a whole load of news, updates, information and cold hard gameplay to remedy that brief disappointment of late.
First up is an actual release date: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on February 24 2015. Next up are details of the various editions: the pre-order-only Collector’s Edition contains a figurine of Geralt fighting a chimera, a 200-page art book, a steel case and a steel wolf medallion, plus you’ll get a beta invite to virtual board game The Witcher: Adventure Game.
And if you choose to pre-order from GOG.com instead you also get a Witcher comic book from Dark Horse, some free wallpaper, and a copy of Neverwinter Nights.
Before the gameplay trailer, which you can see here, was released, CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński said: “If you think you’ve seen it all, we hope we’ll make you think again. This year’s conference is going to be really special, as we’ll be unveiling details about the much anticipated Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its Collector’s Edition, and also taking a look at how what you love about GOG.com can be made even better”.
The Witcher has been the subject of plenty of press recently, with U.S President Barack Obama expressing his admiration for the franchise. ‘The last time I was here, Donald (Polish prime minister) gave me a gift, the video game developed here in Poland that’s won fans the world over, The Witcher,” he said.
“I confess, I’m not very good at video games, but I’ve been told that it is a great example of Poland’s place in the new global economy. And it’s a tribute to the talents and work ethic of the Polish people as well as the wise stewardship of Polish leaders like prime minister Tusk.”
