U.S. President Barack Obama showed off his comedy skills at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night (03May14) as he delivered a joke-filled stand-up routine.

Celebrating the 100th birthday of the White House Correspondents' Association, celebrities like Robert De Niro, Jessica Simpson,Lupita Nyong'o and Sofia Vergara dined with politicians and journalists.

And Obama was a big hit, taking the stage and poking fun at a number of topical issues, including the troubled launch of his administration's health care scheme and Tv network Fox News' attempts to discredit him, saying, "Let's face it, Fox, you'll miss me when I'm gone. It'll be harder to convince the American people that Hillary (Clinton) was born in Kenya."

He also joked about his recent drop in popularity, quipping, "In 2008 my slogan was 'yes we can'. In 2013 my slogan was 'control + alt + delete'."

And he also took aim at CNN bosses for their endless coverage of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight, adding "I am happy to be here even though I am a little jet-lagged from my trip to Malaysia. The lengths we have to go to to get Cnn coverage these days... I think they're still searching for their table."

Dinner host Joel MCHale also had guests in fits of laughter as he took aim at Clinton and property tycoon-turned-reality Tv star Donald Trump's potential presidential runs in 2016.

Poking fun at Trump's much-maligned hairstyle, he said, "People are asking, 'Will Donald Trump run again?' And the answer is, 'Does that thing on his head c**p in the woods?'"
