American songwriting legend Baker Knight has died of natural causes at his home in Birmingham, Alabama. He was 72.

Knight, whose work was recorded by celebrities including Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra, passed away last Wednesday (12OCT05)

Famed for his hitmaking prowess, Knight wrote over 1000 songs after moving to Los Angeles in 1958 - including The Wonder Of You for Presley.

Knight is survived by his daughter TUESDAY and son, Thomas Baker Knight.
