The wedding marks the end of a long journey for Maynard.
Former Bachelorette Emily Maynard has found love – just not where she was looking for it. Maynard, a single mother from North Carolina, Married longtime boyfriend Tyler Johnson at a surprise ceremony this Saturday. Johnson is a automotive management consultant, so it looks like Maynard (now going by Emily Johnson) is moving away from the world of reality TV for good.
Maynard felt "embarrassed and ashamed" about her broken engagements.
"For so long I felt so embarrassed and ashamed about that TV stuff," said the new Mrs. Johnson, whose televised engagement to Bachelor Brad Womack ended in 2011. A year later, her engagement to Jef Holm on The Bachelorette didn’t work out either
According to People, the couple (both 298) who have been engaged since January, managed to sneak the wedding past even their guests until the very last moment. They invited 200 family and friends to Johnson's family farm for an engagement party. What the guests didn’t know was that the party was actually for Tyler and Emily’s wedding.
The new Mrs. Johnson is just as happy for her daughter as she is for herself.
Maynard rocked a casual and slightly country bridal look, opting for cowboy boots underneath her pale pink Modern Trousseau gown as she walked down a lantern-lit pathway at sunset towards Johnson, who was standing under a white oak tree. And, as the ultimate touch of melt-your-heart cuteness, her 8-year-old daughter, Ricki, was maid of honour.
"It's just as much her day as it is mine because it's a big change for her," the bride said for People. "She just adores Tyler and he is so good with her. He loves her as if she was his own daughter. It's been so great to see their relationship grow."
Congratulations to the happy couple and little Ricki, too!
