Babylon 5 Star Michael O'hare Dies


Babylon 5 star Michael O'hare has died at the age of 60.

The actor, who starred as Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in the sci-fi series, passed away on Friday (28Sep12), five days after he suffered a heart attack and slipped into a coma.

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski has paid tribute to O'Hare, calling his loss a terrible blow.

Metallica have released a new EP, 'Beyond Magnetic', in Celebration of their 30th anniversary.

The 'Enter Sandman' heavy metal band celebrated their landmark birthday with four shows in their hometown, San Francisco, last week, where they unveiled a previously unreleased new song each night, which have now been collected together for fans to download.

The songs, 'Hate Train', 'Just a Bullet Away', 'Hell and Back' and 'Rebel of Babylon', were recorded during sessions for the band's last album, 'Death Magnetic', in 2008.

Boney M frontman Bobby Farrell died yesterday (30.12.10).

The leader of the reggae-pop group was found dead in his hotel room in St. Petersburg, Russia, after he failed to answer to a wake up call.

Although the cause of death has yet to be established, the performer had complained of breathing problems before his band's show the previous night (29.12.10).

'The King's Speech' was the big winner at last night's (05.12.10) Moet British Independent Film Awards.

The Tom Hopper-directed drama about the stuttering British King George VI, starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter picked up Best British Independent Film, Best Screenplay and prizes for Helena and Colin who were named Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor.

Speaking before the ceremony on the red carpet at London's Old Billingsgate Market, Helena - who portrays the Queen Mother - confessed she was nervous about how well 'The King's Speech' was being received considering it has not been cinematically released yet.

Actor Andreas Katsulas, who played AMBASSADOR G'KAR on cult sci-fi show Babylon 5, has died of lung cancer.

The 59-year-old actor passed away on Monday (13FEB06) in Los Angeles after battling the disease for some time, his agent DONNA MASSETTI confirms.

The Missouri-born actor was known for playing villainous roles in movies, including playing a mobster in SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME, a terrorist in Executive Decision and the man who frames Harrison Ford's DR RICHARD KIMBLE character in The Fugitive.

British singer David Gray knocked fellow singer/songwriter James Blunt off the top of the UK album chart, while Pussycat Dolls dug their claws in to stay at number one on the singles chart.

Babylon hitmaker Gray secured his third successive number one album when his seventh LP LIFE IN SLOW MOTION pushed Blunt's Back To Bedlam down to number two - and Sir Paul McCartney's 20th solo album CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD only managed to make number 10.

KT Tunstall's EYE TO THE TELESCOPE rose to number three while Coldplay's X+Y and Late Registration by Kanye West made up the top five.

The 2000 song, from his smash hit White Ladder album, was a massive success across the world and fans are always requesting it as his gigs, much to the chagrin of Gray.

He moans, "I only want to sing things that I can feel and if I don't have a feeling for a song... then I'll pass it over.

Pearl Jam jumped at the chance to support THE Rolling Stones on their upcoming tour, because they are massive fans and it could be the last time the legendary rockers hit the road.

The EDDIE VEDDER-fronted band - who performed on The Stones' BRIDGES TO Babylon tour - will join Mick Jagger and company when they play Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 28 September (05).

Bassist JEFF AMENT says, "It could be their last tour, and they treated us really great the last time we played with them.

New York Dolls Bassist Dies

New York Dolls Morrissey Babylon Johnny Thunders

New York Dolls bassist ARTHUR KANE died on Tuesday (13JUL04) after battling leukaemia. He was 55.

The punk rocker passed away in Los Angeles, following complications from the cancer, only four weeks after performing at Morrissey's MELTDOWN FESTIVAL in London on 16 June (04).

The Babylon group are scheduled to perform next month (AUG04) at LITTLE STEVEN's INTERNATIONAL UNDERGROUND GARAGE FESTIVAL in New York, although it is unknown if the gig will go ahead.

Richard Biggs Babylon Days Of Our Lives

American soap and sci-fi star Richard Biggs has died of a reported stroke at his home in California. He was 44.

The actor, who played DR STEPHEN FRANKLIN on cult hit Babylon 5 died on Saturday (22MAY04), according to a posting on his official website.

Biggs also appeared on popular daytime soap Days Of Our Lives as MARCUS HUNTER.
