Avril Lavigne's new nail polish strips reflect her personality.

The 'What the Hell' singer has worked with Sally Hansen to create the collection, which can be directly applied to fingers without having to use a brush and says she used only her favourite colours and patterns to create the nail accessories.

She told People magazine: ''These patterns are reflective of my style -- my favourite colours and patterns. They're rock 'n' roll.''

''It's real nail polish. But I don't have the time or patience to sit down and get my nails done.

''These take me five minutes to put on. In the car, I'm always doing it, on the plane putting them on. And you can take them off with nail polish remover. It's easy.''

The Canadian star was inspired on a trip to Japan a few years ago to think more about her nails and how she presented them.

She added: ''I remember going to Tokyo six years ago and the girls out there have crazy nails. I remember thinking, 'I wonder if we're going to get into nails hardcore the way they are in Japan right now.' And now we are.''

The designs include polka dots, tartan, Pink zebra print and neon leopard print.
