Avril Lavigne's Charity Song Fly Took On A Whole New Meaning For The Rocker After Her Lyme Disease Diagnosis.
The Complicated hitmaker, who recently opened up about her health crisis, wrote the inspirational song a few years back and admits the lyrics have become a source of strength for her.
She tells Good Morning America, "(The song is) about inner strength and courage... The message of the song is to show the world that they can overcome the challenges and that everyone is meant to shine and this song took on a whole new meaning for me during the time that I've been sick, which was pretty magical."
Lavigne wrote and recorded Fly for her foundation and partnered up with officials at the Special Olympics to hand over the net proceeds.
The singer recently revealed she had been diagnosed with energy-sapping Lyme disease, which left her bedridden for five months.
