Dance superstar Avicii has cancelled an upcoming trip to India due to his ongoing health troubles.

The Swedish Dj/producer recently axed a number of shows in Australia following his hospitalisation in Brisbane, but delayed necessary surgery to remove his gall bladder so he could complete his dates Down Under.

It has now emerged Avicii has called off his upcoming Indian dates, which were scheduled for April (13).

A statement from tour organisers reads, "It is with deep regret we have to inform you of the cancellation of Sunburn Arena Avicii India tour in Mumbai & Delhi. Unfortunately, Avicii has been facing health issues recently which you all might have heard of already... and has been forced to take rest until he is once again healthy to perform and travel until further notice.

"We are in talks with the management to monitor his health condition and wish him a full and speedy recovery. We will work with the management to reschedule the dates later this year. We appreciate your understanding and our thoughts and well wishes are with Avicii who is extremely disappointed to cancel his visit to India."

The dance star axed a gig in Mexico on 10 March (13), but has several other dates lined up over the next few weeks including a second set at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida on 22 March (13), as well as shows in the Philippines and Sweden next month (Apr13). It is not yet known whether these will go ahead.

Avicii reveals in a series of posts on his Twitter.com page that he is trying to cut back on travelling due to his health problems: "First and foremost: I am really sincerely sorry... for having to reschedule (some shows). Was lookin (sic) forward to (them and really) didn't wanna reschedule but goin (sic) ahead as planned with travelling then rly (really) could have put me in a rly (really) bad place... I'm doin (sic) better by the day though and there's a lot of positive and exciting things and surprises in store the next couple weeks..."
