Avicii was hospitalized in Miami Thursday night (March 27th) after complaining about feeling ill.

The DJ star has been forced to cancel several shows in Miami, including a headlining spot at Ultra Music Festival on Saturday (March 29th).

TMZ reports, Avicii was rushed to hospital after suffering from severe abdominal pains, a fever and nausea.

The diagnosis is a blocked gallbladder and he will require surgery to have it removed.

Although the 24 year-old still remains in hospital, he did manage to write a series of tweets to his 1.3 million concerned followers.

"I'm really sorry but as some of you have already heard," he posted. "I will not be playing Ultra Festival this Weekend."

"My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis," he continued. "I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away."

"The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night," Avicii wrote. "Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight."

"My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning," he added. "It's a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour."

Avicii's publicist sent an email on Friday morning to Billboard which read, "He has been diagnosed as having a blocked gall bladder, and is currently being evaluated for a potential surgery to remove his gall bladder."

"He has had to cancel all his commitments for the week," they added, "including a highly anticipated performance last night at the Ushuaia Pop Up at the Avicii Hotel at SLS and his headline performance tomorrow at the ULTRA Music Festival."
