The former Aswad frontman denied attacking Jemma Payne, the mother of his two-year-old son, at her home in south London in October (14), but he was convicted of assault on Tuesday (02Jun15).

The news comes just weeks after he collected a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal from British royal Prince William in May (15).

Forde, 61, was facing a potential prison sentence, but escaped with a 12-month community service order. He must carry out 300 hours of community service work and pay $320 (£200) compensation to Payne, as well as a $96 (£60) victim surcharge and $560 (£350) court costs.

The magistrate overseeing the case also granted an indefinite restraining order to prevent Forde from contacting his former partner or visiting her home.
