Ashley Judd has written a memoir detailing her childhood abuse.
In the book, the 42-year-old actress describes how she would think about shooting herself as she played with her mother Naomi's gun and reveals that she was molested by the husband of an unnamed family member.
The 'De Lovely' star also documents the loneliness she felt as her mother and sister Wynonna left her behind as they pursued fame as country duo The Judds - but said her they are not opposed the memoir.
She told USA Today: "My mother has read the book. I certainly gave it to my sister. I don't know if she's read it yet, but she absolutely supports what I've done. I gave everyone ample opportunity to be familiar with the text."
She explained: "My job was to stay continually willing and to remember that it's none of my business how it turns out or what the outcome may be. I'm just asked to be in the moment and share my truth. When I stay in that space, things are generally pretty easy."
