Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have answered press rumours by confirming that their first child is on the way.
The musicians were married earlier this month and speculation had been rife that Simpson - the younger sister of actress and pop star Jessica Simpson - was pregnant.
And while the Fall Out Boy bassist had denied that his bride was expecting, a statement on his website has revealed that Simpson is indeed with child.
"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," they wrote on friendsorenemies.com.
"This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
The Texan pop star and Wentz confirmed their engagement last month and celebrated their nuptials on May 17th at the California home of Simpson's parents.
The mother-to-be has changed her name to Ashlee Wentz, but will be known as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz professionally.
Wentz, 28, had been quick to deny rumours last month that Simpson was expecting his baby, saying there was "a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood".
"This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover," he said in an email to MTV News shortly after the announcement of their engagement.
