As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder charges in a plot to kill his estranged wife, Meggan.
The heavy metal star initially denied the charge, but he entered the plea at a Vista courthouse in California on Tuesday (25Feb14) and now faces nine years behind bars.
Lambesis was arrested in May (13) after prosecutors claimed he met with a sheriff's deputy posing as a hit man and offered him $1,000 (Gbp625,000) to murder his wife Meggan. He also gave the agent his wife's address and the security code to her front door.
Lambesis was subsequently charged with one count of solicitation to commit murder and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime.
The 32 year old will be sentenced on 2 May (14).
He remains free on $2 million (£1.3 million) bail, which he was granted on the condition that he wears a Gps monitoring bracelet and stays away from his wife and children.
The couple had been married eight years when Meggan filed for divorce, claiming the rocker was more interested in bodybuilding than her.
Following his arrest last year, Lambesis' lawyer claimed the singer's use of steroids had clouded his judgment.
As a result of Lambesis' legal troubles, the band was forced to cancel a tour with Killswitch Engage and has been on hiatus ever since.
