Following the surprise success he enjoyed with latest album Mandatory Fun last year, musical comedian “Weird Al” Yankovic is cashing in by announcing plans for a huge international tour in 2015.

The ‘Mandatory World Tour’ starts on May 12th with a five-night residency at Planet Hollywood, before embarking on an exhaustive jaunt throughout North America ending on September 18th at the Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheatre in Laughlin, Nevada.

But that’s not the end of Weird Al’s plans. The tour will then go through several northern European countries, including Denmark, Sweden and Holland before hitting London and Dublin by mid-October. There will also be a handful of shows in Australia and New Zealand, whose precise dates are as yet unconfirmed, and a scattering of shows in North America that can’t yet be confirmed for legal and contractual reasons.

The 55 year old took to his Facebook page to reassure fans that the tour’s itinerary was still being finalised. He wrote: “you may have noticed there are a few holes in my otherwise packed touring schedule. This is because some dates haven't been completely confirmed and some dates we're not allowed to announce yet for various legal/contractual reasons. All I can say is, please be patient… don't give up hope quite yet… there are still a few more 2015 tour dates to be announced.”

Mandatory Fun, the parody merchant’s fourteenth album, surprised many by reaching Number 1 on the US Billboard 200 last July, the veteran’s first album to do so in over thirty years of trying. It was also the first comedy album to hit the summit since Allan Sherman achieved the feat in August 1963.
