U2 Use Superbowl Halftime Commercial Slot To Unveil New Charity Single 'Invisible.'

U2 have unveiled their new single ‘Invisible’ with a halftime commercial at last night’s Superbowl. The single sees the band team up with the Bank of America and the (RED) Foundation to raise money for the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

The band, who performed Superbowl XXXVI’s halftime show in 2002, used the coveted advertising spot to premiere ‘Invisible’, which is their first single since 2009’s ‘No Line On The Horizon’ album. Fans who wish to download the track can do so for free until 11.59pm EST tonight. $1 will be donated by the Bank of America to the (RED) Foundation via the Global Fund for each free download of the song.

The Irish rockers recently won a Golden Globe for their song 'Ordinary Love' from the soundtrack of 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.' The band will be relasing their thirteenth studio album later this year.

Recently frontman Bono revealed the inspiration for the group's next album in an interview with USA Today. The singer said, “we went back to the reason we wanted to be a band in the first place. We started listening to music from the late '70s, remembering our early trips to London," adding, "I remember being with Ali, my girlfriend at the time — now my wife — feeling incredibly uncool in the middle of this punk-rock explosion.”

The halftime performer at this year's Superbowl was Bruno Mars, who certainly lived up to expectations as he took to the stage accompanied by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. However, U2 were not the only band to be heard during the Superbowl halftime adverts. Bob Dylan’s music was used in two different adverts, first for Chrysler cars and the second time for low-fat Greek yogurt. Lady Gaga and OneRepublic could also be heard on other adverts.
