It’s been 24 years since the first episode of Twin Peaks aired. At the time, fans of the show were gripped by the murder mystery surrounding Laura Palmer’s death. As years went on, the show garnered cult status for its strangely enthralling tone, pacing and reoccurring themes. Pie and coffee anyone?

Now, a new boxset edition of the show – with 90 minutes of unseen footage – is set to be released in Blu-Ray format, giving fans a chance to revisit the legendary crime thriller, gloriously re-mastered, and check out 1h30m of brand new stuff. It’s what the fans have been asking for ever since Fire Walk With Me was released.

"During the last days in the life of Laura Palmer many things happened, which have never been seen before," Lynch said in a statement. "They're here now alongside the new transfer of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks, the television series."

Lynch recently made an appearance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he talked about his love of one of Twin Peaks' main settings: the diner. "There's a beautiful thing about a diner," he said. "Your mind can go into dark places, but you can always return to the warmth and comfort of a well-lit diner. It's a nice place to think."

Rumors arose early this year that David Lynch was going to return to Twin Peaks after a mysterious casting call advert fuelled speculation he was gearing up to film new footage for the show.

Sande Alessi Casting ran an ad referring to a Twin Peaks Promo to be directed by Lynch, with the director apparently seeking a ‘hot Caucasian girl’ with ‘an amazing body and very period looking face’ to play a waitress. The series co-creator Mark Frost as a later dismissed this as a “baseless rumour”.
