The HBO series' composer, Nathan Barr, has a year to present an musical adaptation that could be brought to Broadway.
The hit HBO vampire series 'True Blood' is getting adapted into a musical.
Although the television version may be finishing, fans of the show will be relieved to know that the story will live on, but this time in a live stage production, the Associated Press reports.
The idea of transforming 'True Blood' into a musical comes from the series' composer, Nathan Barr, and he is also the man with the task of developing the adaptation.
"This was something that I pitched to HBO and (show creator) Alan Ball," Barr said at the premiere of 'T.B's' seventh, and final, season in Hollywood on Tuesday (June 17th).
"The story lends itself to a musical," he continued. "The challenge for us is the minute I thought about True Blood: The Musical, I myself could kind of groan. I can see the bad version of that. It's really a matter of finding a way of sort of reinventing it."
Despite this exciting news, Barr warns fans to not get their hopes up just yet.
"We're pitching it, it's not a guaranteed thing," Barr said. "I have the rights. HBO doesn't have to like it, but hopefully they will and they'll give us the shot to make it and bring it to Broadway."

"We have a year left before we have to present it," he added. "It's still very early, but we're very excited. Fingers crossed!"
Barr, who has been with 'True Blood' since its pilot episode back in 2008, says working on the show has "been an amazing ride, it's really sad to see it end."
