Tracy Morgan, who is currently in critical condition, is slowing improving after being involved in a car crash last weekend that killed one person.

The comedian's rep, Lewis Kay, released a statement to People Magazine on Thursday which said that he had a "better day" in hospital as he begins to recover.

"While Tracy remains in critical, but stable, condition, he continues to show signs of improvement," the statement read. "His medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing."

Morgan's mentor, 63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York, has been identified as the man killed in the incident, and Jeffrey Millea, Morga's assistant, also suffered serious injuries.

"Megan remains by his side and is relaying the countless good wishes and prayers that his family, friends and fans have been sending their way," Kay continued. "In addition, Jeff's wife asked us to pass along that Jeff has also shown much improvement over the past few days. She is very thankful for the love and support she and their family continue to receive."
