Following the announcement that 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan has been severely injured and another man killed in a six-car pileup, the truck driver involved in the incident has been charged. The incident occurred early on Saturday morning – around 1AM - on the New Jersey Turnpike. The other victim was  63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York.

According to Reuters, Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into the comedian’s limo bus, injuring Morgan and several other passengers. The initial estimate was that seven people were injured in the pile-up, but the prosecutor’s report later put the number at four.

According to a spokesperson for Morgan (via CNN) the actor remained in critical condition throughout Saturday, but is “receiving excellent care” at a hospital near the crash site.

"NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police said. "At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."

The actor, known for his over-the-top characters and impressions on SNL and then the Tracy Morgan Show, as well as his self-parodying character Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock, received numerous messages of support on Twitter over the weekend.
